The first thing we did was order a bottle of the house cabernet sauvignon and had a toast by the fire. We read various menu choices to each other and as we were surrounded by the heady aromas permeating the restaurant, this activity was torture. In the low light and plied with red wine, I chose the filet topped with lump crab meat and bernaise sauce. I also ordered button mushrooms marinated in burgundy and the waiter assured me all were gluten free, but he would make sure my meal was safe and talk to the chef. The filet was tender and perfectly cooked; the crab meat was "crazy good!" My date had the 10 oz filet encrusted with horseradish, "just the right amount," he said happily. We literally ate every bite and lingered long after our food was gone. Even though we ate too much, we also ordered creme brulee and shared it. The proportions of everything were just right, and the creme brulee was no exception being enough for two after the savory steak selections.
Seriously, great date!
Livin' gluten free and fabulous,
