Most of the laughter in my life comes in waves. Once I get started I can't stop. I love to tell the story about giant roaches in Arizona who met up with an F-15 pilot complete with hand motions, screaming, and body movements that would send us all in to hysterics, mostly because I could barely tell the story without losing it myself. The roach vs. pilot meeting was funny (afterwards, because those roaches were huge), but became much funnier in the re-telling and animated story embellishment. Great storytellers are good friends to have, and I have family and friends who are incredibly entertaining. I am drawn to their witty conversation, intelligent craziness, and youthful animation. They fill up the spaces with laughter and joy. My personality is more of an odd mix of the creative and logical and I ebb and flow in emotional state these days. I used to be more stable and always dependable, but I have relaxed much of my life into a happier state of being that I am still trying to get the hang of. Maybe you need a dose of laughter, it is the best medicine without a doubt.
Find ways to add humor to your life such as:
1. Spend time with funny people. Have a party and invite them, they will come. Funny people like parties. (insert smile here, you know this is true)
2. Go to youtube and type in funny videos. When you find one that makes you laugh, watch it over and over. My favorite is "Hide your kids, hide your wife." the song version
3. Make a list of your favorite movies and collect a set of "never fail to cheer you up and make you laugh" movies.
4. Ask everyone you meet, "what is really funny to you?" They will enjoy talking about themselves and you might get a great story.
Some of my favorite funny movies for when I am down:
Overboard - Goldie Hawn is always funny, for that matter First Wives Club too
Christmas Vacation - Clark and Eddie, no words for the hysteria that has ensued over this rediculous movie
She's The Man - I can't explain it, but Amanda Bynes is hilarious in this movie, so many great quotes
The Man Who Knew Too Little - not very known but hysterical spy spoof
Elf- good clean fun
I have to add another oldie - Spies Like Us with Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd. Watch it, and think of me when those two get out of the centrifuge and their faces are stuck in the blown back by sheer force stage.
What are yours? It is for the good of mankind...
